The highest mountain, Chitakavala (approx. 3,226 m), is located in the Egrisi Mountains and forms the border between Mingrelia and Svaneti. The region is traversed by the country’s most water-rich rivers: Rioni, Enguri and Zhenistzkali, which originate in the Greater Caucasus and flow into the Black Sea. The longest river in the region is the 150-kilometre-long Khobizkhali.
