Our 7-day hiking tour in Tusheti consists of 5 hiking days and 8 transfer days. This tour is ideal for experienced hikers who can cover distances of 13 to 17 km and altitude differences of 500 to 900 m daily.
Tusheti, a mountainous region in eastern Georgia in the Greater Caucasus, attracts many travellers who want to discover the breathtaking landscape and diverse flora and fauna of the Caucasus. A national park was established here as early as 2003 to protect the unique beauty of this region. Even the journey to Tusheti via the 3000-metre-high Abano Pass, which can only be driven over with a four-wheel drive, is an adventure.
During the hike through Tusheti, we explore all four valleys in the region and visit picturesque villages. A baggage car helps us transport our luggage to the next accommodation, so that hikers only have to carry a daypack.
In Tusheti, we stay in the guest houses of the villages, where delicious meals and hot showers await us every day. Guests have the opportunity to experience the daily life of the Tushetians up close and to visit the famous Tushetian defence towers. Our guide will tell us a lot about Tushetian culture and local customs.
Please note: This tour can also be booked as an individual tour with or without a guide. Tips, pre- and post-programme for hiking in Georgia on your own can be found here.
