Sightseeing in Georgia are very diverse, which, among other things, makes the country a very interesting tourist destination for guests from all over the world.
For those guests travelling to Georgia for the first time who do not know exactly what there is to see in Georgia and want to find out more, we have created the page Top Destinations in Georgia. But of course that is not enough and that is why we have decided to post as much information and destinations in Georgia as possible on our homepage.
We have divided them into the following seven different categories.
1. Religious sites
We did not choose the term ‘religious sites’ without reason. Since Georgia is not only home to churches and cathedrals, but also many mosques, synagogues and even pre-Christian places of worship, we decided to use this term and not just churches and cathedrals.
2. Fortresses and castles
Although we don’t have castles like those found in Europe, we still call our large fortresses that. Many of them are already in ruins, but are still worth seeing because only their location is attractive and unique.
3. Wineries
Georgia is the cradle of wine and it is not surprising that there are many large and small factories in this country that are also very often used as tourist destinations. Particularly interesting are the small family wineries that produce wine using traditional methods. Of course, the big factories can also be found here.
4. Museums
There is a museum in every town, no matter how small. You can see many different types of museums here – historical-archaeological museums, house museums, art museums, musical instrument museums, and so on.
5. Natural sites
The beautiful landscapes of the Caucasus are known and admired throughout the world, so many guests come to Georgia to enjoy the beautiful mountains of Svaneti or Kazbegi. The mountain lakes of the Lesser Caucasus in Javakheti are a special destination. Here you can discover the most beautiful natural monuments in the country and create your own route to enjoy or photograph them.
6. National parks and protected areas
From wetlands to steppes to alpine high mountain landscapes, Georgia has it all, usually united in various national parks or nature reserves. Whether hiking, nature photography, jeep tours or boat trips, our national parks in Georgia offer everything. Take a look and find the right direction for you in the large list of national parks.
6. Other
Many beautiful and interesting attractions in Georgia that do not fall under this classification are listed under this heading. Here you will find, for example, tea plantations in Guria or an artist who makes wooden ornaments. Historical sites or excavations, other things come under this heading.
