We will spend the first day in Tbilisi, the 1600-year-old capital of Georgia. We will start with a three-hour city tour to get to know the city and its attractions.

The drive to Tusheti is so adventurous, attractive and fascinating that some of our guests visit the country just for this route. On the way, we will take a few breaks at selected locations in Kakheti before reaching Omalo, the heart of Tusheti, in the late afternoon.
The highlight of today is crossing the Abano Pass in the Greater Caucasus, which extends to an altitude of about 3000 metres. From here we have a breathtaking view of the mountains and gorges of Tusheti. We will take a break in Omalo to rest and prepare for the first day of our horse trekking in Tusheti.

Our ride through Tusheti begins with a short acclimatisation ride, covering a slightly shorter distance from Omalo to Diklo.
We stop in Shenako to visit the church, an architectural curiosity and the only functioning Orthodox church in Tusheti.
Diklo sits at the foot of the mountain of the same name. Those who are interested can hike to the ruins of an old fortress, which is spectacularly perched above a gorge and was once built to protect the entrance to the valley from attacks. The 17th-century fortress is located directly on the border between Georgia and Russia.

Today’s destination is Dartlo, undoubtedly one of the most picturesque villages in Tusheti. From Diklo we cross a small pass and ride through the forest down into a deep gorge. In some places where the terrain becomes too steep for riding, we dismount.
After crossing the river, we will ride uphill again and after about 1 to 2 hours we will reach the small village of Tschigho. Here we will have a lunch break and the opportunity to order coffee or other drinks from a local family.
From Tschigho, we continue to the Alazani River, where the charming village of Dartlo with its impressive defence towers is located.

Besides the village of Dartlo, there are other charming, typically Caucasian villages such as Tschescho, Farsma and Girevi. Today we ride to the next village at the end of the valley, Girevi, and prepare for the crossing of the Nakaitscho Pass.
To make horse riding in Tusheti more varied, there is the option of first riding to the village of Kvavlo to enjoy the magnificent view from there. This decision can be made spontaneously on the spot.

Today’s stage is undoubtedly one of the most impressive of our horse riding tour through Tusheti. Our route takes us over the Nakaitscho Pass (2,900 m), which extends between the Pirikita and Gomezari valleys and is very popular with hikers.
Our destination is the charming village of Jvarboseli on the banks of the Pirikita-Alazani river. Here we will stay in a very hospitable family hotel.

Today we leave the charming village of Dschwarboseli arboseli and continue through other equally charming villages in the valley.
Our destinations today are the villages of Bukhurta, Vestomta and Goglurta. Depending on our guests’ wishes, there is the possibility of taking a short hike near one of the villages to explore the surrounding area.

A beautiful ride awaits us today along the ridge of the Makratela Pass. From our accommodation, we will first ride through the unique village of Dochu, which is known for its special location.
Our route then takes us up to the Makratela Pass, along the ridge of which we ride to the Mirgvela camp and on to Omalo. This route is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful sections of our ride through Tusheti.

The picturesque Lake Oreti, which is also part of the Tusheti National Park, is located near Omalo. This lake is the destination of our last stage in Tusheti. As we ride through enchanting pine forests, we have the opportunity to reflect on the experiences of the past few days.
We will arrive at Lake Oreti, where we will enjoy the beauty of the surroundings. After that, we will return to Omalo, where we will spend our last night.

Our horse riding tour in Tusheti ends with the journey over the Abano Pass to Tbilisi. Our driver will pick you up at the airport at the agreed time and take you home.
