We offer a 7-day Horse Riding Tour in Vashlovani. Vashlovani National Park, also known as ‘Little Africa of Georgia’, is very popular with nature lovers, landscape and wildlife photographers, as well as people who want to enjoy horse riding in a steppe-like environment.
For this reason, we are happy to organise horse treks in collaboration with our partner and horse owner, Mr Soso from Tusheti. Our 7-day guided horse riding tour in Vashlovani is suitable not only for experienced riders but also for beginners.
Our professional guides will be happy to teach you the most important riding skills and knowledge so that you can enjoy the trip without any problems or risks.
Our horses are calm and accustomed to being around strangers, which makes your stay even more pleasant.
You will either spend the night in tents or in tourist huts in the national park, giving you the opportunity to experience the nature and atmosphere of the national park up close. Equipment is usually provided on site, but you can also bring your own.
Please note: This trip can also be booked as an individual tour.
Our adventurous horse riding tour of Vashlovani begins with a drive to the village of Kasristkali. The route takes us via Dedoplizkaro and on through the fertile plains of Shiraki and Eldari in the region of Kakheti, where the many wheat fields make the landscape particularly attractive.
After arriving in the village of Kasristkali, where our horse trainer Soso runs his own ranch, we take a short break and prepare for our first ride.
We will receive detailed explanations and instructions on how to ride. Our guests are welcome to help prepare the horses.
Today’s ride is not particularly long and takes us about 15 kilometres around the ranch, past small hills and valleys. On a clear day, we have a magnificent view of the Greater Caucasus.
In the evening, we arrive at the ranch, where we have the opportunity to try the traditional Georgian dish ‘Mtsvadi’, a grilled meat skewer dish. We spend the night in a guesthouse near the ranch.
Meals: breakfast, picnic lunch, dinner
Accommodation: Kasristskali / guesthouse
Today’s stage of our horse riding Vashlavani tour is characterised by reaching the highest point of Vashlavani National Park at Shavi Mta, from where we can enjoy breathtaking views of the plain and the long chain of the Greater Caucasus.
With a bit of luck, we may also be able to spot Colchis pheasants. From there, we continue our journey and finally arrive at the walnut forest called ‘Kaklis Kure’, which brings us very close to the Azerbaijani border. Here we end our ride for the day and spend the night in tents.
Meals: Breakfast, picnic lunch, dinner
Accommodation: Kaklis Kure / in tents
One of the most beautiful routes in Vashlovani National Park leads to Mijnis Kure. This is a ranger station directly on the Alazani River, which forms a natural border between Georgia and Azerbaijan. The only way to get there is through a dry river bed that is rich in plant and bird species.
Meals: breakfast, picnic lunch, dinner
Accommodation: Mijnis Kure / in the hut
After breakfast, we will leave our station for the other ranger station, Buga Moedani. The picturesque beauty of the landscape will accompany us throughout the day. In the afternoon, we will take a break at a shepherd’s camp, where we can enjoy our packed lunch.
Meals: breakfast / picnic / dinner
Accommodation: Buga Moedani / in a tent
Today we will cover the longest stretch of our ride in Vashlovani. A wide plain with exotic shepherd’s camps, numerous flocks of sheep and particularly interesting wildlife will catch our attention and promise an unforgettable journey. The so-called Samukhi Plain is particularly characterised by the fact that it is a habitat for gazelles.
There is a good chance of seeing gazelles during a ride through the Samukhi Plain. After a ride of about 35 km, we will end today at the ranger station in Vashlovana.
Meals: breakfast / picnic / dinner
Accommodation: Washlovna / in a hut
The last stage is just as short as the first. Today we only ride 10 kilometres back to the ranch where our journey began. We say goodbye to Soso and make our way to Tbilisi.
We will arrive in the capital in the late afternoon. We will take a short break there and enjoy a delicious farewell dinner in a typical Georgian restaurant in the evening. This marks the end of our riding adventure in the Vashlovani National Park in Georgia.
Meals: breakfast / picnic / dinner
Accommodation: Tbilisi / hotel
