Regions & Cities in Georgia

Georgia is geographically and culturally divided into Eastern Georgia, Western Georgia and Southern Georgia. These three parts are officially made up of eleven regions, including two autonomous republics – the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia and the Autonomous Republic of Adjara. Other regions of Georgia include:

2. Racha-Lechkhumi and Lower Svaneti / Racha – Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti / რაჭა-ლეჩხუმი და ქვემო სვანეთი

5. Inner Kartli / Shida Kartli / შიდა ქართლი
6. Lower Kartli / Kvemo Kartli / ქვემო ქართლი

9. Samtskhe-Javakheti / Samtskhe – Javakheti / სამცხე-ჯავახეთი

However, our approach does not focus on this political-administrative division, but rather on a cultural and tourist division. For example, we have divided Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti into Samegrelo and Svaneti. Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti become Racha, Lechkhumi and Svaneti. Upper and Lower Svaneti and Racha and Lechkhumi were considered as separate regions. Thus, instead of 11 regions, we have created a total of 17.
