Our eight-day horse riding holiday in Georgia takes us through the steppes of Kakheti. Vazhlovani National Park, also known as the ‘Little Africa of Georgia’, is a popular destination not only for nature photographers and off-road drivers.
Due to its flat and unique landscape, horse riding tours are also extremely attractive and in demand here. Our eight-day guided horse riding tour in Georgia extends from the national park to the Monastery of Garedji and offers a wonderful and adventurous horse trek through the steppe-like region.
This riding tour in Georgia is suitable not only for experienced riders but also for beginners. Our professional guides will be happy to teach you the basics of riding so that you can enjoy the riding tour safely and without danger. Our horses have a calm character and are accustomed to strangers, which helps us to teach our guests the basics of riding.
We will either spend the night in tents or in tourist huts in the national park, so that guests can experience the nature and atmosphere of the national park up close.
We usually provide the necessary equipment on site, but you are also welcome to bring your own.
Please note: This trip can also be booked as an individual trip.
Our adventurous horse riding holiday in Georgia begins with the journey to the village of Kazristkali in Dedoplistskaro. First, we register at the administrative centre of the national park, do some shopping at the market and then ride on to the village.
Once we arrive in the village of Kazristkali, where our horse owner Soso runs his own ranch, we will take a short break and prepare for our first ride. During this time, guests will receive explanations and instructions on how to ride and can also help prepare the horses.
Today’s route is not too long and covers about 15 kilometres over small hills and valleys around the ranch. When the weather is clear, we can enjoy impressive views of the Greater Caucasus. In the evening we arrive at the ranch, where we have the opportunity to taste traditional Georgian meat ‘Mstvadi’ on a spit. We spend the night in a guest house near the ranch.

The Samukhi Plain in Vashlovani National Park is a charming area for horse riding in Georgia. This plain serves as a winter pasture for the Tusheti shepherds, so you will see numerous flocks of sheep, huts and much more.
The landscape is very exotic and fascinating. With a bit of luck, we can also see gazelles today, which call this plain their home. Shortly after the plain, we reach the Pantishara Gorge, where we pitch our tents for the night.

The village of Udabno, which is also called ‘the Desert’ in German, is a small settlement seemingly located in the middle of nowhere in the Gareji steppe. The village was founded in the late 1980s for the so-called ‘Ecco migrants’ from the mountainous regions of the country, mainly from Svaneti.
The reason for the village’s creation was a natural disaster in 1987, when heavy snowfalls and avalanches made several families homeless. The Soviet government resettled these families here.
The village looks like an oasis in the semi-desert and is an interesting destination for our riding holiday in Georgia.
Riding route: approx. 42 km / 7 hours
Meals: breakfast / picnic / dinner
Accommodation: Udabno / guesthouse
Near the village there is a unique landscape called ‘Colourful Mountains’. On the last day of our trip we will visit this beautiful place. We will have a break and a picnic lunch by a small lake where the mountains are reflected.
After the break, we have the opportunity to take a short hike on the hills. In the late afternoon, we say goodbye to our horse owner and drive back to Tbilisi via Rustavi. This marks the end of our adventurous riding holiday in Georgia.
Riding route: approx. 15 km / 2 hours
Catering: breakfast / picnic / dinner
