If you are planning a trip to the Caucasus and would like to get to know two different but similar countries in this region, then this travel offer is perfect for you. The 14-day combined round trip through Georgia and Armenia is designed so that you can get to know the most important sights of both countries and experience the diversity of this region.

The Georgian part of the Georgia-Armenia tour begins with a drive to Kakheti. The route passes through a picturesque semi-desert to the cave monastery of David Gareji. According to legend, it was named after Saint David, one of the 13 Azerbaijani apostles who preached in the 6th century and founded the monastery.
Visitors can explore the monastery with its impressive, colorful frescoes from the 10th to 13th centuries. After lunch in a cozy restaurant in the village of Udabno, the tour continues to Sighnaghi.

After breakfast, we explore the town, walk along the city wall of Sighnaghi and enjoy the magnificent view of the plain of Alasani and the majestic Greater Caucasus. We continue to the nunnery of Bodbe, where Saint Nino, an important figure in Georgian history, found her final resting place.
On the way to Telavi, we will visit the palace of the Georgian prince Chavchavadze in Tsinandali. A wine tasting and a snack await us at the neighbouring Shumi winery, where we can sample the famous wines of Kakheti. We will then continue over the Gombori Pass to Mtskheta.

Numerous archaeological finds and historical monuments testify to Mtskheta’s rich historical past. The 12th-century Svetitskhoveli Monastery and the 7th-century Jvari Church are among the city’s most important attractions and are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After visiting Mtskheta, we will continue our journey north on the famous Georgian Military Road to Stepantsminda. On the way, we will stop at the Jinvali Dam and the Ananuri Fortress.
In the evening, we will reach Stepantsminda after crossing the 2600-metre-high Jvari Pass.

Stepantsminda, located at 1500 m in the mountains, starts the day with a hike to the Gergeti Monastery at the foot of Mount Kazbeg (5047 m), a well-known destination for mountaineers. The monastery was built in the 14th century and is located at an altitude of 2200 metres.
In the afternoon we drive through the picturesque Sno Valley to the village of Juta. From there you have the opportunity to hike to Tschauchi or enjoy the view at Café Zeta at 2200 metres.
The hike takes about 2 hours and is about 7 km long. A light packed lunch will be provided. The route is part of the well-known Kazbegi-Omalo hiking trail.

After breakfast, we will travel directly to Tbilisi, where we will arrive in the afternoon. After a short break, we will take a city tour. We will visit the famous sulphur baths, cross the Bridge of Peace to Freedom Square and Pushkin Square.
Our tour continues to the fortress Nari-Kala, the churches Anchiskhati and Metekhi, a mosque and a synagogue. We also don’t want to miss the monumental Mother of Georgia. After a little refreshment, you will have the opportunity to explore the city on your own.

Today we finish the Georgian part of our round trip Georgia – Armenia and start our journey through Armenia. We cross the border into Armenia in the village of Sadakho. On the way, we will make a few stops to see some of the country’s highlights, including the Sanahin and Haghpat monasteries, which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
We will arrive in Dilijan, one of the most famous resort towns in Armenia, also known as the ‘Armenian Switzerland’, in the late afternoon. After the somewhat exhausting journey, we will take a break to relax before having dinner at a local restaurant.

On the first day of the round trip Georgia – Armenia in Armenia, we get to see the breathtaking nature of the country. Near Dilijan, there are some beautiful churches and historical buildings, such as the Hagartsin and Goschavank monasteries.
Both are impressive examples of Armenian Christian culture. Our day begins with a leisurely stroll through the old town of Dilijan. We then visit the two impressive churches. The programme also includes a short hike in Dilijan National Park.

Today we leave Dilijan and follow the mountain passes that lead us along the famous Lake Sevan to one of the most beautiful places in Armenia: Tatev.
On the programme is a breathtaking cable car ride to the Tatev Monastery, which was an important cultural and educational centre in the country for centuries.
Afterwards, we will continue to Goris, where we will spend the night.

On the way to the capital Yerevan, we will make some interesting stops. A fascinating stop today are the Areni Caves, where artefacts of wine-making dating back over 6000 years have been found. A special highlight of the round trip Georgia – Armenia.
After a guided tour of the caves, we continue through a narrow and impressive gorge to the picturesquely situated Noravank monastery.
Since Areni is a well-known wine-growing region, we take the opportunity to organise a wine tasting in the afternoon. Afterwards, we continue to Yerevan, where we arrive in the evening.

The day begins with a two-hour city tour of Yerevan. We then continue to the Kotayk region, where there are two must-see destinations. Our first stop is the pagan temple of Garni. On the way there, we make a photo stop at the Charents Arch and then continue to the Garni Temple.
Here we explore the picturesque surroundings and discover the traces of pagan Armenians. After a guided tour of the temple complex, we continue to the Garni Gorge, where we can admire the basalt organ.
After that, we will continue to the Geghard Monastery, an impressive monastery carved into the rock, whose walls are decorated with numerous cross stones. A place that will transport you to another world. We will have lunch at a nice restaurant before returning to Yerevan with all these experiences.

The Armenian part of our round trip through Georgia and Armenia is coming to an end. We leave Yerevan and continue to Georgia. After crossing the border, we will immediately reach the famous Javakheti National Park, where we can stop and enjoy the landscape.
In the evening we arrive at the cave monastery and town of Vardzia, which was founded in the 12th century.
The route takes us through various gorges to a charming family-run hotel in Vardzia, which has a beautiful garden. Here we can relax after the long drive.

Vardzia is a cave town that was built in the 13th century in the valley of the Kura. In a chapel within the town, there are remarkable frescoes created by Queen Tamara and her father. After the tour, guests have time to themselves.
They can either take a short hike in the area around Wardzia or relax in the well-tended garden of our accommodation by the river. Sounds like a balanced day of discovery and relaxation in the middle of nature!

The route leads over the high plateau of the Lesser Caucasus and offers very scenic views. We plan to take breaks at the beautiful Paravani and Saghamo lakes before arriving in Tbilisi in the evening. We are happy to organize a farewell dinner for our guests here.

Our wonderful round trip through Georgia and Armenia ends with the transfer to the airport.
