The family trip in Georgia is a special type of off road tours in Georgia and is aimed at families who want to travel individually and without a fixed group. The program was originally designed as a jeep tour in Georgia in 2025 for a family with four members. As this trip was very successful, we have decided to offer it as a new option for other families.
Who is this trip for? – This trip is ideal for families who want to discover the country individually and without a group, while experiencing adventurous drives and remote villages. The tour can also be organized as a self-drive trip in Georgia. If you do not want to drive yourself, we will be happy to provide you with a German-speaking tour guide.
Accommodation: Accommodation ranges from cozy family guesthouses to comfortable hotels. In the countryside, you will stay in traditional guesthouses where you can authentically experience the local culture and everyday life of Georgian families.
Why this trip? – This trip is designed as a jeep tour in Georgia. This means that you will not only visit Georgia’s top travel destinations, but also reach remote regions and villages that are only accessible by four-wheel drive vehicle. This is exactly what makes this trip so varied and authentic.
Best time to travel: The best time for a jeep trip in Georgia is from late June to mid-October, when all mountain passes are open.
Safety – Please note, however, that some routes, especially in the mountainous regions of Svaneti (off-road vehicles recommended!) and over passes, may require driving skills and a spirit of adventure. Road conditions are not always comparable to Western European standards.
The family trip in Georgia begins with a drive to Tsalka, a small town near Tbilisi. The region is known for its megalithic structures from pre-Christian times. On the way, we make a detour to an old castle—Samshvilde, which is scenically located.
From there, we drive through a famous gorge of the Chrami River. A visit to the old German village of Trialeti is also on the agenda. In Tsalka, we stay in a very nice family hotel.
Meals: Breakfast, dinner
Overnight: Tsalka / in the guest house
Today’s stage is undoubtedly one of the highlights of off read tours in Georgia. Along the way, we pass the Tskhratskaro Pass and the Tabatskuri Reserve in the Lesser Caucasus, which offers an impressive panorama with its breathtaking mountain lake and picturesque village.
In the Ktsia-Tabatskuri Nature Reserve, we have the opportunity to observe the life of nomadic families who live in the mountains with their herds during the summer. Finally, we reach the famous winter resort of Bakuriani, where our guests have the opportunity to bathe in the
hot sulfur springs under the open sky.
Meals: Breakfast, dinner
Overnight: Borjomi / in a hotel
One of the most spectacular passes on our family trip in Georgia is undoubtedly the Zekari Pass, which lies between South and West Georgia and leads to the Imereti region. The route to the pass takes us through the famous spa town of Abastumani.
Due to the exceptionally clear air and warm water, a fascinating observatory was built in the mountains. Even the Tsar’s family was impressed by the unique landscape and had a summer palace built here.
If we are lucky enough to have clear air on the pass, we can see the entire Greater Caucasus mountain range from there and enjoy the view to the fullest.

The village is inhabited all year round and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This stage of our journey promises unforgettable impressions. Our family trip in Georgia takes us to Omalo today. The mountainous region of Tusheti is undoubtedly one of the country’s highlights. The drive over the famous Abano Pass, which reaches an altitude of 3000 meters, is a real adventure in itself.
We take several breaks along the way before reaching the picturesque village of Diklo in the evening. We start in Diklo and first ride via Omalo into the Pirikita Alazani Valley. Here we visit the well-preserved, typical Caucasian village of Dartlo, which charms visitors with its defensive towers and historic buildings.
The valley extends further north to the village of Girevi, which we will also visit, and in the village of Parsma we will have the opportunity to admire the famous drawings on the towers.
In the afternoon, we return to Omalo and continue our family trip in Georgia to reach the village of Jvarboseli in another valley. Here we spend the night in a family hotel on the banks of the Alazani River.
