Overview

Our 4-day guided photo tour in Vashlovani National Park is an unforgettable experience for anyone who enjoys photographing landscapes, animals and birds. The park is located in the east of the country in the Kakheti region and is one of the best travel destinations in Georgia.

In addition to tourist activities such as jeep tours, horse riding or cycling, wildlife tours are particularly popular. Rare species of plants, birds and animals attract many botanists, birdwatchers and nature photographers.

We are one of them, organising a photography trip to the Vashlovani National Park, where guests have the opportunity to take the most beautiful wildlife or landscape pictures in the Georgian steppe. This is a guided, 4×4-drive tour where our local guides will choose the best routes and places to take pictures in this wonderful park.

We will stay twice in guesthouses in Dedoplistskaro and once in the national park in the tourist shelter on the Alazani River. There we will enjoy our cosy picnic with traditional roasted meat – Mzvadi.

If you are a beginner photographer and feel insecure, our guide will be happy to help you overcome your photographic challenges.

The best time to visit Vashlovani National Park is from the beginning of March to the end of May. You can find out more about the best time to travel to Georgia here.

Please note: The tour can also be booked by individual travellers with or without a tour guide as a self-drive tour. Our team will be happy to help you plan and execute your trip.

The trip is led by Giorgi Liparteliani, a talented photographer and English-speaking tour guide in Georgia. Giorgi is an excellent photographer and winner of several photography competitions.

Itinerary

Day 1.Drive from Tbilisi to Dedoplistskaro | Start of the tour

Our photo tour in Vashlovani National Park begins with the drive to Dedplistskaro. Here we register at the visitor center and get the permit for our visit. The first destination today is the Takhti Tepa mud volcano. Wide landscapes and steppes await us today.

We will take several breaks along the way to photograph the surroundings and birds. Among other places, we will stop at the dam, where we will have the opportunity to observe and photograph birds. After photographing the mud volcanoes, we will return to Dedoplistskaro, where we will spend the night in an inn.

Day 2.Dedoplistskaro - Mijnis Kure | on the Samukhi plain

Although we are on a nature photography tour in Georgia, we have still included a small part of lost places. On the way to Vashlovani, we will make a small detour to an abandoned Soviet airport with hangars and the remains of a jet.

In the Vashlovani National Park, today’s highlight is a wide Samuchi plain, where gazelles live. We will spend enough time here to photograph them. In the late afternoon, at sunset, we will have the opportunity to photograph beautiful landscapes. In the evening we will arrive at Mijnis Kure on the Alazani River, where we will spend the night and enjoy our picnic.

Day 3.Vashlovani - Dedoplistskaro | vast Steppes

Today we leave Vashlovani National Park and drive back to Dedoplistskaro. Slowly and without stress, we discover the scenic beauties of the park – our destination today is a small mountain range called ‘Shavi Mta’ or ‘Black Mountain’.

From here you have a wonderful view of the plain of the Alazani River, which is a beautiful motif for our photo tour in Vashlovani National Park. With a little luck, we can photograph a beautiful Colchis pheasant here. In the late afternoon, we will reach Dedipliszkaro, where we will visit the beautiful Eagle Gorge.

Fasan -Photo Tour in Vashlovani National Park

Day 4.Dedoplistskkaro - Tbilissi | End der Tour

If we feel like it, we will visit the Eagle Gorge again in the morning and then drive to Tbilisi. For an extra charge, we can make a detour to Davit Gareja and discover beautiful monasteries in the desert of the Kakheti region. We will reach Tbilisi in the evening and end our photo tour in Vashlovani National Park.
