Our Jeep Tour Tusheti and Vashlovani NP includes two enchanting places. Both are true gems for the adventurous who appreciate jeep tours in this unique country.
Vashlovani National Park offers a dry steppe landscape, while Tusheti promises a real adventure with its mountains and roads that reach up to 3000 metres in altitude (Abano Pass).
Our 8-day trip is aimed at guests who enjoy exploring the steppe landscape in an off-road vehicle on gravel roads or who are looking for a challenge on mountain and pass roads. The famous Georgian cuisine and wine culture enrich this trip. Thanks to our reliable partners, our vehicles, mostly Toyota or Nissan, are well equipped.
You can also take this trip as an individual traveler or self-driver in Georgia if you wish to explore the route unaccompanied (a valid driving licence from an EU country is sufficient).
Our jeep tour in Tusheti begins with a drive to Dedoplistskaro in the Kakheti region, where the Vashlovani National Park is located. Here we will visit the administrative centre of the national park and take care of some formalities. Our first destination is the mud volcanoes in the Chakhuna Protected Area.
The route there passes through wide, steppe-like grasslands in Kakheti, offering beautiful photo opportunities. We will stop at the Dali Dam, where guests can either take pictures or enjoy bird watching.
As there are many interesting bird species here, we recommend that guests bring binoculars and/or telephoto lenses for photography.
We will have a picnic break at the mud volcanoes and explore the unique surroundings of this place. In the evening we will return to Dedoplistskaro.
Meals: breakfast, dinner
Accommodation: Dedoplistskaro / in the guesthouse
From our accommodation, we continue east to Washlowani National Park. The charming and fertile Shiraki Plain, famous for its wheat, welcomes us in all its splendour.
During the Soviet era, the largest military airport was located here, and its hangars still stand today. We take a short photo break at the airport and immerse ourselves in the Soviet past.
We will pass the village of Kasristkali on our way to the entrance of the national park and then continue through a dry river bed into the exotic Samukhi plain. Here our guests will need their binoculars again, this time to observe gazelles, which have found their habitat in this region.
In the evening we arrive at the ranger station ‘Mijnis Kura’ on the Alazani River, which forms a natural border between Georgia and Azerbaijan. We will spend the night in huts there.
Meals: breakfast, dinner
Accommodation: Vashlovani NP / in the hut
From Mijnis-Kure we continue to Schavi-Mta, also known as Black Mountain. This name comes from its particularly dark soil. The area is famous for a unique species of peony that is endemic to the national park.
With a bit of luck, we can also see some beautiful birds here, including the Colchic pheasant. We will take a short walk along the ridge and enjoy the view of the Caucasus and the Alazani plain all the way to Azerbaijan. In the evening, we will arrive at the charming town of Sighnaghi, where we will spend the night.
Meals: breakfast, dinner
Accommodation: Vashlovani NP / in the hut
On our tour through the region of Kakheti, we will visit some of the most impressive sights in Georgia. Today’s destinations are Gremi Castle, Aleverti Monastery, the town of Telavi and a royal palace.
At a wine-tasting session in the ‘Shumi’ winery, located next to the palace, we will learn a lot of interesting information about Georgian wines. We will spend the night near Telavi, in another town called Kvareli.
Meals: breakfast, dinner
Accommodation: Kvareli / in a hotel
Today we will have an adventurous drive to Omalo, the centre of Tusheti. This is one of the most spectacular stages of our jeep tour through Tusheti. The 3000-metre-high Abano Pass is world-famous and many guests travel to Georgia to experience crossing it.
After a 3-4 hour drive, we arrive in Omalo. After checking in, we explore the area on foot.
Meals: breakfast, dinner

From Omalo, we continue through the village of Shenako towards the small village of Diklo, where we can admire the ruins of a fortress with a beautiful garden. In Shenako, we will have a picnic break and visit the famous church of Shenako.
In the second half of the day, we will continue to another valley to the village of Girevi. On the way, we will visit the village of Dartlo with its unique architecture.
Depending on the guests’ wishes, there is the possibility of a 2-3 hour hike to the village of Kvavlo.

The village of Jvarboseli is located in the Gometsari Valley, right on the Alazani River. We will spend the last night of our trip in a cosy guesthouse in this charming village.
The valley is lined with unique villages such as Dochu, Beghela and the highest village in Europe, Botschorna. We will explore these villages on foot and experience their beauty.
